Thanks for your support to the Xenos Free Clinics - there is a lot of news to share!

In 2016, we ended the west side medical clinic, as patient visit counts dropped very low, in keeping with local and national trends. The dental clinic run in partnership with Vineyard reduced in frequency due to a shortage of volunteers and a change of location to the Vineyard location in Westerville . If we could train someone to coordinate a clinic and raise up more workers, including dentists, dental assistants, and a prayer team we could conceivably open an all-Xenos clinic at the previous clinic location on 5th. This has proven to be difficult, due in part to Thursdays being a popular home group night at Xenos.  Thanks for your prayers about this.

Key figures for 2016, include:

  • patients - 362 visits, up significantly from 280 in 2015;
  • clinic sessions - 65, down from 117 in 2015 - 12 legal, 32 dental, and 21 4th street medical;
  • shift positions:  884 shifts were staffed;
  • volunteers - 603 registered, 117 active.

We are seeing the medical clinic numbers rise again from last year, where across the country many free clinics closed.  We attribute this trend to the fact that although Obamacare in theory offered more people insurance and also increased the number of people eligible for Medicaid, the actual availability of medical care is starting to decline.  We will see if this trend continues.  Legal clinic visits are up slightly as well from 2015.

Since we opened our doors in  2008, there have been a total of 2,823 patients served in 7,431 visits,  with at least 2,041 prayer team sessions (generally under-reported), and no less than 94 patients reporting they received Christ during these sessions. We thank the Lord and pray His name is being glorified in our city.

Thanks again for your support!
