Short-Term Trips

Summer 2012

Xenos is offering two short-term mission trips this Summer.  One is to Cambodia and the other to Southeast Asia. Both trips will be heavily involved in serving people in real, practical ways.

A short-term trip trip can be life changing opportunity that will stretch your faith and allow you to see God work in big ways.

Please read on to see some of the details and for information on applying to go.  Even if you don't plan to go on a trip, please join us in praying for them!

SEAsia Trip

Approximate cost:     $2,500/person

The goal of this trip is to conduct a high quality youth program (similar to Vacation Bible School, Blow Out Camp and Epic) for the children of families attending a conference in SEAsia.

We are looking for people with experience working with elementary, junior high or high school age students.  Capable workers who have proven ability to engage with youth, can teach, coordinate activities or lead singing in an overseas setting should apply.

Cambodia Trip

Approximate Dates:  July 22- August 7

Approximate cost:      $2800/person

This trip will be a combination of learning about the country, people and participating in  service projects. The projects will include serving the poor, teaching kids, construction, teaching potential Christian workers, conversational English and anything else we are asked to do!

Together we will come up with fundraisers to help cover our expenses. The cost of shots, Passports and $100 deposit are on your own. Applicants working full time may be asked to contribute up to 50% of their trip costs.

Who can apply?

Anyone who is 18 or older, with 2 Home Group Leaders references.

How can I apply?

You can apply on the Xenos website, or pick up an application from the study center or missions booth. You will also need to provide 2 references from Home Group Leaders (see form on website).

Short Term Class

We are offering the 3 week class, Effective Short Term Teams for 3 Saturdays beginning Feb 18 . We highly encourage all who may want to go on a short term trip to complete this class. We anticipate many more applicants than available spots. You may be selected as a team member, an alternate, or not selected. Taking the class will help you if you reapply for future trips.

Preparing to Go

From February until departure, we ask team members to participate in fundraisers, write letters to non-Xenos family and friends, attend periodic team meetings, and attend a one day team building retreat. We believe it is a privilege to go on a short term trip, and therefore we will maintain a high moral standard for participants. If at any time before or during the trip a team member has a significant moral failure, they will be removed from the team.
