Xenos Study Center
A great place to study, reflect, and get ready to lead your home group
Inside the Study Center
As a house-church planting movement, Xenos makes equipping our
membership a top priority. That's why we have invested heavily
in a Study Center. The Center is like a combination library, study lounge,
and resource center. Xenos members find this a great place to get away
for some study and reflection. Membership in the Study Center is free
and open to the public. Sign-up just requires a valid photo ID.
Book
collection
The book collection is a modest 8,000 volumes, but very well stocked on
biblical study reference tools, commentaries and language helps.
These expensive books are not for loan, but by sharing the collection,
people don't have to invest the big bucks in their own collection. We
also have maintained subscriptions to more than 40 scholarly and popular
journals since the mid 1980s, facilitating research projects.
The rest of the collection is mainly books on Christian life and witness,
apologetics, history, world religions, sociology, anthropology and psychology.
Much of the non-reference collection can be checked out for up to one
month.
Computer access
Members often come to the Study Center to do research
on the online computers or to write up teaching outlines.
Teaching Tapes
People
are constantly coming by for teaching tapes. Our tape library has more
than 8,000 tapes from a variety of speakers inside and outside Xenos.
Our tape subscription program offers monthly shipment of current Xenos
teachings to anyone, anywhere. You also can order selected tapes
on the Web site.
Videos and CDs
The Center offers hundreds of videos
from Christian and secular sources that small study groups check out and
use as a basis for discussions.
We also sell 3 different types of CDs at the Study
Center:
1. Audio CDs. These are like music CDs and hold up to
70 minutes of sound.
A typical Central Teaching fits on 1 CD. These take 8 minutes to burn
and can be played in regular CD players.
2. CD-ROMs. These are for the computer only. They contain
PowerPoint slides, pictures of the teacher and the teaching. You can use
these on your computer but NOT on a regular CD player.
3. MP3s. These CDs are a hybrid of audio and CD-ROM.
We can put up to 23 teachings on 1 CD. You can play them on both your
computer and on those new CD players that can play MP3s. This is newer
technology, so unless you’re sure about your CD player’s capability,
choose an audio CD.
Prices
MP3s: $5 per CD
Audio: $5 per CD (on teachings from the past 3 weeks)
$4 per CD (on all other teachings)
CD-ROMS: various prices, see the back of the case.
Creation Time
MP3s: 15 minutes per CD
Audio: 8 minutes per CD
CD-ROMs: premade.
The hours of operation and a map
are available.
