Short-Term Mission Trips

Our Strategy

Short-term missions at Xenos are designed as short-term trips composed of small teams that seek to facilitate a local church in self-sustaining, indigenous church planting, primarily among the poor, connecting short-term trips to long-term goals for existing partnerships.

Short-Term Mission Trips - 2018

1. Cambodia: July 31 - August 14

Cost Estimate: $2,900 per person

Trip Summary: This trip will be a combination of learning about the country and doing service projects. Team members will participate in various projects including teaching children, construction projects, teaching Christian workers, developing case studies, and teaching conversation English.

2. Ecuador: September 1 - September 9

Cost Estimate: $1,800 per person

Trip Summary: Participants on this trip will serve an unreached community in southern Ecuador where medical and economic resources are scarce. They will share Christ's love in word and deed along with national workers as they provide medical and dental care at a daily medical clinic.

Positions Needed: Medical Field Professionals (physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, dentists, dental assistants), Translators, and Logistics (non-medical helpers).

3. Haiti: June 23 - July 1

Cost Estimate: $1,600 per person

Trip Summary: A small team will work with Pastor Duplessey who leads the Beraka Church in Jacmel, Haiti. This is a great opportunity to work alongside our brothers and sisters in Christ and to observe firsthand what God is doing in Haiti. This trip will focus on running daily medical clinics with our Haitian partners. The clinics support existing house churches and facilitate house church planting in previously unreached areas.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the qualifications for those seeking to apply?

All applicants must be 18 or older and active members in a Xenos Christian Fellowship home church. Fiscal Support Team (FST) membership is a requirement for any who wish to participate in a short-term trip. Although not a requirement, we also strongly recommend team members to complete the missions class our church offers every year (this can be done after being selected for a trip).

How much will the trip cost?

It depends on the trip as some are more expensive than others (see above for specific trip expenses). At a minimum, participants are responsible to self-fund the cost of immunizations and their passport which can range between $200 and $300. In addition, each trip participant will need to provide a $100 deposit for airfare. This means that participants will not be able to use fundraised money for these three items.

Unless otherwise stated, trip participants will have the opportunity to participate in fundraisers to help with the expenses. We ask participants who work full-time to pay at least 50% of the trip cost.

How can I go about fundraising once I get accepted?

Read our Fundraising Guidelines for an explanation of the fundraising process and our expectations on trip participants seeking to raise funds.

When will I be notified whether or not I was selected for a trip?

You will receive notification if you have been 1) selected as a team member, 2) selected as an alternate or 3) not selected for a trip once your application has been processed. Please allow at least 2-3 weeks from the deadline date for notification.

Can I be removed as a team member?

We believe it is a privilege to participate in a short-term trip, and therefore we will maintain a high moral standard for participants. If at any time before or during the trip a team member has a significant moral failure, they will be removed from the team.
