Youth for Christ, International Friendships Inc., and Urban Concern raised over $437,000 from last month’s Big Give event conducted by the Columbus Foundation. This amount included $39,000 in matching funds from the foundation. It is a substantial increase over the amount raised during the first Big Give in 2011. “The Big Give was a HUGE blessing,” according to Jason Pinschenat, Development Director for IFI.
Vicky Thompson, Head of Development for Central Ohio Youth for Christ said, “YFC was very blessed by folks participating in the Big Give. We received $293,000 from 204 gifts. Each donation was increased by 12% which means that YFC’s match totaled $31,500! We can’t wait to communicate our gratitude to everyone after November 1st, when we receive the list of participants from the Columbus Foundation.” YFC was one of the top fundraisers in this year’s event, receiving $293,000, the fifth highest total of all local non-profits taking part in the event. This money will help fund the continuing work of YFC’s many programs for youth in our area.
Michael Larson of Urban Concern reports, “We are excited that $21,475.76 was raised for Urban Concern in just 24 hours through The Columbus Foundation’s Big Give Event. Money will go to general operating expenses of UC programming, including Harambee and Bible studies.” Urban Concern also has a heavy focus on investing in disadvantaged youth through ministries like Harambee School and the Lighthouse Bible study.
International Friendships Inc. mobilizes volunteers
from area churches to serve the thousands of international students who are attending Central Ohio’s colleges and universities. IFI is in the initial stages of launching “Commission Possible,” an ambitious program to expand it’s ministry to other campuses in Ohio. Jason Pinschenat told us; “The Big Give was a HUGE blessing and surprising help in launching Commission Possible. God provided $123,162.77 toward IFI's local, national, and global impact. We praise God for His provision!” IFI is already impacting hundreds for Christ each year. “IFI has gone from 3 to 14 new campuses in the past 5 years in Ohio and in 4 other states. This will require more pray-ers, more laborers (volunteers, staff, interns, etc) and more generous givers.” Pinschenat commented.
Please join us in praising God for this incredible outpouring of generosity!
