Send a Shoebox of Hope this Christmas

Christmas is still weeks away, but now's the time to think about putting together an Operation Christmas Child box. Fill a shoebox with small gifts, and Samaritan's Purse will take them to a child in a region in need, sharing the gospel with them as well.

Xenos will be collecting the boxes November 11th and 18th at Main Campus (1390 Community Park Dr., 43229), the Warehouse (600 Oakland Park Ave., 43214), and 4th Street Pavilion (1934 N 4th St., 43201).

Please note: There are only two collection weeks this year.

Kim Aebie is helping organize the effort for Xenos. Kim says, "Over the last 10 years Xenos has sent over 5000 shoeboxes to children around the world. I can't wait to see the fruit of these shoeboxes in heaven!"

You're asked to shop for kids of a particular age range--2-4, 5-9, or 10-14--and with a girl or boy in mind. Your shoebox can include fun items like small toys, but also useful items like toothbrushes, soap, and socks. Some of the most prized items are school supplies--pencils, writing pads, solar calculators, and crayons. Please stick to a standard shoebox size--smaller boxes allow more children to be reached.  There is a shipping cost of $9 a box.

There are additional guidelines such as not including anything liquid or that could melt.Toothpaste and candy are also NOT permitted. You can find plenty of helpful tips at samaritanspurse.org.

The program is a great way to help your kids help a child in need who's their age. Get them involved in selecting the items and writing a personal note to include. If they share their address, sometimes the child receiving their box will write back!

If you pay your shipping online, you can get tracking information. This will allow you to see where in the world your shoebox ends up.
