We praise God for the progress of the work He is doing in Haiti. Thank you for your faithful and generous support of our partnerships in Port-au-Prince and Jacmel.
The January, 2014 ministry trip was a fairly traditional trip for us: 4 days of medical clinics, youth work, and pastoral training. We were thrilled to treat more than 220 medical and dental patients at the mobile clinics! We have established a protocol of sharing testimonies in the waiting area and praying with each patient, and God granted a harvest in January of 13 salvations.
In June, we split our team, meeting needs in both Port-au-Prince and Jacmel. The Port-au-Prince team paired a U.S. dentist with a Haitian doctor, with other teammates hungry to share the good news, encourage, and pray with the patients and their families. Hundreds of patients found physical relief and spiritual hope in these mobile clinics.
The Jacmel team tried something new: community health lectures and simple water purification techniques. We visited the sites of four existing home churches, bringing honor and attention to these home churches by attracting many from the community to hear the gospel preached, testimonies shared, and information on practical health matters, especially prevention of mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria, dengue fever, and the locally devastating chikungunya, which had affected all but 5 members of the Beraka church.
We have been invited to share the “simple church” seminars to an increasing number of pastors and church leaders. These seminars challenge pastors to consider the church as described in the New Testament, an every-member ministry community, unhindered by obstacles that hinder church growth such as purchasing land and constructing buildings. These seminars have been enthusiastically embraced and pastors are clamoring for more!
We just returned from an amazing ministry week in January, 2015, during which we saw over 100 salvations at the mobile health clinics! Two new churches were planted during the week, and the pastors’ seminars were very fruitful.
Please pray for the next trip, planned for June, 2014:
- For hundreds to encounter Christ in the mobile medical clinics, public health forums, and youth seminars planned by Xenos teams.
- For church planting training in Port-au-Prince with 20 more pastors.
- For Pastor Duplessy's ongoing monthly training of the church planters in Jacmel.
- For lay leaders like Beliot and Daphnis to eagerly lead others into this work of reconciliation..
We praise God for your faithfulness in supporting our Haitian brothers and sisters through your prayers and finances. May we continue adorning the gospel, binding the wounds and bringing hope in the name of Jesus.
With hearts full of gratitude,
David & Terri DiPietro
