5110 Philosophy for Course Selections

XCS believes that Christ has commanded us to be ambassadors for Him to the secular world (2 Corinthians 5:7). Consequently, we believe that we should adequately prepare our students to understand and participate in the contemporary world.

5111 Course of Study

5111.1
Students in grades K-8 receive instruction in the following subjects:

  • Language Arts
  • Geography/Social Studies
  • Math
  • Science
  • Physical Education (including health education)
  • Art
  • Music

5111.2
A Course of Study, available in the office, describes the philosophy, goals, and objectives of each subject for each grade level.

5112 Schedule of Classes

5112.1
School hours are 6 1/2 hours each day including a 30 minute lunch and recess period.

5112.2
Preschool and Kindergarten classes meet at least 2 1/2 hours each day.

The administrator will plan a daily schedule of classes.

5112.4
Teachers may change schedules provided they adhere to the weekly time allotments over the year and that a daily schedule is submitted to the office.

5113 Length of School Year

5113.1
XCS schedules a minimum of 182 days of instruction per school year.

5113.2
Five days are permitted for school closings due to weather or other emergencies, after which make-up days will be scheduled.
