Xenos Christian School Strategic & Tactical Plan 2005-06 School Year
Administration
- Ensure compliance with Ohio Department of Education Operating Standards.
- Implement new computer system for tuition and student tracking by January 2006.
- Develop and distribute to stakeholders the Xenos Christian Schools annual report by January 2006
- Revise Middle School student handbook by January 2006
Staff Development
- Conduct quarterly staff meetings with emphasis on personal and professional growth. Conduct mid-year retreat for all staff.
- Provide ongoing development and mentoring of the 4 first year teachers.
- Complete annual teacher evaluations by March 2006.
- Conduct monthly meetings with the Calumet elementary teachers to promote unity, cast vision, and insure continuity of purpose between elementary and middle school.
Curriculum
- Revise scope and sequence of the middle school language arts curriculum by September 2006.
- Develop and implement a computer training and study skills class for middle school students by September 2006.
- Revise the fourth and fifth grade Bible curriculum by September 2006.
- Revise Preschool curriculum to ensure compliance with Ohio Department. of Education standards.
- Implement a middle school Bible reading plans so that the students develop a regular habit of reading God’s word.
- Implement the Accelerated Reader computer program at Calumet and Xenos Christian School
Student Advancement
- Calumet and Xenos Christian Schools will Maintain a level of 70th percentile or better in annual standardized tests.
- Conduct annual leadership and spiritual assessment surveys (student views of leadership, information technology and stewardship) with the middle school students.
- Conduct quarterly leadership development luncheons with eighth grade students.
- Champion the Xenos Christian Schools core values (grace, stewardship, love of learning, diligence, courage, sacrificial love, outreach, and missions).
- Provide opportunities during the school day for older students to mentor younger students.
- Conduct Middle School Extra-curricular Activities –
- Running Club 6th-8th grade
- Climbing Club 7th grade
- Ropes Course 8th grade
- Ski Club 8th grade
- Spring Trip 8th grade.
- The Middle School director will organize a student government for 5th-8th grade students.
- Conduct high school orientation meeting of eighth grade parents by January 2006.
- Conduct a mission trip to Mexico for 6-8 eighth grade students
- The middle school students will raise funds for World Relief’s work in Africa . Each grade will select a country and an area of ministry (AIDS relief, child survival, etc.) to invest in. Information about each country will be integrated into the social studies and Bible curriculum.

- The Gathering instruction will focus on mission & service.
- Students will learn about the condition, culture and religion of various African countries during classroom Bible instruction. Each classroom will be assigned to learn about and report at the Gathering about a country. Older students can develop Power Point presentations.
- Each classroom will maintain a prayer list, including outreach to friends & family and missions around the world.
- Students will take turns serving as classroom greeters. All students will practice hospitality when the school has visitors of any kind.
- Discuss ways that students can practice racial reconciliation in the classroom and beyond.
Ethos
The school has a culture of grace and a consensus of excellence. HCS students have a sense of privilege, which leads to responsible behavior and strong effort.

- Implement Read Now intervention program in 1st-5th grade. Use STAR Early Literacy in K-2. Follow training procedures and work with "Coach."
- Implement Accelerated Math in 1st-2nd grade. Training for Julie Faulkner by Sue Frank, Michael Harvin. Recruit 1-2 volunteers per classroom during math period.
- Classroom teachers will recognize academic achievement and effort quarterly at the Gathering.
- Draft a Retention Policy.
Community
HCS is one means by which the Xenos South Linden community church seeks to serve and transform the neighborhood by providing families in South Linden with a proven and just educational opportunity at an affordable rate.
Strategic Focus for 2005-06 - Increase enrollment to 90. Increase the percentage of students from the target area to 65%.

- Review the tuition policy to provide more incentive for South Linden families and less for new families outside the target area. Survey parents about tuition.
- Develop and implement a recruitment plan with the Parent Partnership director.
- Parent Idea: Have an Emergency Tuition Fund that is provided through Parent Partnership. Parents donate to it to help each other. Parents go through Parent Partnership to receive help. Ask Wakeshia Harris about overseeing this??
- Community Connections: Recruit volunteers from the community as speakers and volunteers.

- Develop Black Heroes Curriculum: Each classroom will study at least one African-American hero. Some ideas: Frederick Douglas. John Perkins. James Brown. Clarence Lumpkin. Eventually, it would be great to have one historical & one contemporary hero per class. One man & one woman per class.
