Teachings from the Book of Revelation
by Gary DeLashmutt
What is the book of Revelation about, anyway? This teaching identifies
its main theme and surveys how John unfolds this theme. It also introduces
the glorified Jesus in chapter one and challenges us with how we view
Jesus.
Jesus dictates seven letters to first-century churches. These letters
reveal Jesus' priorities for the church today, and provide us with a way
to analyze our own spiritual vitality.
Why does God have the right to interrupt human history and impose his
rule over humanity? This teaching explores how Revelation 4 and 5 answer
this question.
Does God sadistically torture innocent people at the end of this age?
Or are there other purposes for God's judgment during this period? This
teaching overviews Revelation's visions of this period, which emphasize
God's judgmental and redemptive activity.
This vision describes Satan's long battle against God and his followers.
Learn key lessons about how he attacks and how to overcome him.
John's vision of the beast contains a sobering profile of the Antichrist.
Learn what he will be like and how to react sanely to this information.
John's vision of "Babylon, the Great Harlot" is very cryptic--unless
you understand the Old Testament in which this vision is rooted. Then
it becomes a vivid picture of the trajectory of fallen human history.
What happens when Jesus comes back? How will we recognize him? What will
he do when he returns? What will life on earth be like under his reign?
Who will be judged at the final judgment? What is their fate? Why do
people go to hell? Is hell fair? How would you respond to this statement: "I
don't believe in helltherefore I won't go there"?
What is "heaven," anyway? Many biblical passages tell us how
it will not be like this lifebut what will be the essential feature
of God's eternal kingdom? The answer from John's vision of the new heavens
and new earth may surprise you.
