Mark Background
The Gospel of Mark is the earliest chronicle of the ministry
of Jesus. These writings emphasize what following Christ looks like.
Although no direct authorship is given in the gospel, early
church testimony attributes its writing to John Mark, the relative
of Barnabas (Acts 12).
Mark likely was not a personal follower of Jesus, but was a
companion of the Apostle Peter. This relationship would explain
Marks knowledge of the details of Christs life.
