TEACHINGS
Many of our problems in the local church have to do with imbalance
and extremism. Esoteric teaching often appeals more than the healthy
meat and potatoes of God's grace and basic Christian living.
The qualities Paul calls for in leaders are intended to identify
spiritually mature people in the church. As such they help all of
us see where we need to grow if we want to become mature Christians.
Loving strangers, teaching truth, and leading lives that bring
honor to God. These are basic features of spiritual maturity.
