Spiritual Development
The purpose of Spiritual Development is to establish an indigenously led home group movement that serves and transforms South Linden and the world.
Our spiritual model is centered on Jesus Christ, who taught that whoever wants to be a leader, must be a servant.
Youth Ministries
Children's Church
Our children's program ranges from infant through fifth grade. Our volunteer team leads age-appropriate lessons with fun activities. Here, children experience, learn about, and grow in the truth and love of Jesus Christ. They also grow in their ability to relate with one another in a loving way.
Children's Church was established to serve parents in our adult home groups, and has expanded to serve the children in the community.
Junior High "SPAM"
Urban Concern's students participate in SPAM. Here, they enjoy short Bible teachings with discussion, while their parents relax during an adult meeting. SPAM is a great place for junior high students to have a blast learning about God! Many of their guests also get excited about God.
As soon as students arrive, they can jump into a fun game of basketball, ping pong, foosball or a video game. Or, they can just hangout together or run around until we're ready to listen to a relevant teaching and discussion about God.
Students play an active role in the meeting, including setup, activities, snack distribution and cleanup. We believe students who want to become workers and leaders for Christ need this kind of practical, hands-on training. They also enjoy planning skits, games, videos, discussion groups and activities.
High School
The South Linden High School group is a neighborhood-based Bible study that provides spiritual mentoring in small and large group meetings. Our goal is to develop indigenous leaders who will invoke positive change in their community.
Our large group meetings provide a safe, fun environment for students to invite their friends. They play basketball and volleyball, or participate in arts and crafts, and then listen to a clear Gospel message.
Small group meetings help students to learn to live for Christ in their community. We emphasize real spirituality based on Jesus' teachings and a personal relationship with God. We hope these students serve in our South Linden ministry, such as the After School Program or the Children's Church.
Adult Ministries
House churches are a model for community. Xenos Christian Fellowship has more than 160 home churches in central Ohio. Here, we build relationships and learn how to serve others. Small groups also enable people who join our church community to receive support and love. We meet in homes because the early church was effective meeting in small groups, as described in the New Testament book of Acts.
Those involved in home church also have the opportunity to attend a large group meeting called Central Teaching (CT). Here, people invite friends to hear about God in a comfortable atmosphere, with a time for "Questions and Answers." Some meetings offer both Christian and secular music our spiritually seeking guests can identify with.
Our approach may not appeal to people looking for a traditional church and worship service. However, we hope guests will enjoy our community, begin or pursue a personal relationship with God, and join us in adopting a lifestyle of service and winning new disciples for Jesus Christ.
