Team Tag
This game is a cross between "Kick the Can", "Hide and
Seek" and "Tag." Divide the group into two teams. One team
hides, and the other defend the goal. We usually use an automobile or
a four-square painted box on the school yard blacktop. The defending team
waits for four or five minutes and then begins to search and tag-out the
hiding team. The hiding team tries to get to the base without being tagged.
There are two ways to score
the game
- the goal is to get one member
of your team to the base, then you score the maximum one point for that
round.
- a team scores a point for
each team member that gets to the base safely.
You may find that you will need to put some restrictions on the number
of defenders that can be near the base when it is not under direct attack.
We usually have a goalie/defender that can be right at the base, and a
second defender that can be no closer than 10 yards. When attackers are
rushing toward the base, all defenders can come back to the base and defend
it - getting as close as they want - and then must resume searching at
the greater distances. Adjust the rules to fit your group and location.
