Workshop on Biblical Personal Finances
Estate Planning
Transforming lives of success into lives of significance

The Definition of Estate Planning
I want to control my property while I am alive, take care of me and my loved ones if I become disabled, give what I have, to whom I want, when I want, and the way I want, and if possible, I want to save every last tax dollar, court cost and professional fee I can.

Why do we plan?

Let’s break it down:
“I want to control my property while I am alive,”
Loss of control is frightening
Do not want someone else calling the shots
It is my stuff!

“...take care of me and my loved ones if I become disabled,”
If and when I cannot manage my own affairs, I want to make it easy for others to help me take care of myself and my obligations.
Avoid “living probate”
Everyone will be disabled at some point in their lives. (2 minutes or 2 years)

“... give what I have, to whom I want, when I want, and the way I want,“
I worked a lifetime to build this.
I want to share my values and principles with my family and friends.
Provide for family and community, not government.

“I want to save every last tax dollar, court cost and professional fee I can.”
This is the easy part
Do not let the “tax tail” wag the “legacy dog”
By making things easier, we make them less expensive
