Xenos classes meet at our main campus (1390 Community Park Drive), our office (1340 Community Park Drive) and our youth facility "Building X" (1290 Community Park Drive) in Columbus, Ohio. We do not offer online courses at this time. Map

A Really Great Commission: Crossing the Class and Racial Barrier in Our Outreach and Discipleship (1 session)
The great commission has given the church a great purpose statement. Unfortunately, top evangelical thinkers today have often fallen short when interpreting and applying this important text. Properly understood and applied, this passage will lead us to cross the class and racial barriers and transform the church in our discipleship.

Adopting Children: Sharing God's Love (5 sessions)
This 5-week workshop for persons interested in adoption examines the adoption process as well as what God says about adoption. Parents who have adopted both domestically and internationally will discuss their experiences and answer questions. A ministry of Xenos Christian Fellowship, this workshop is open to persons in the fellowship and the public.

Basic Christianity (5 sessions)
This class is a five-week introduction to Christianity intended for new Christians and those seeking to understand Christianity. The course will cover such topics as: the love and justice of God, understanding God, understanding the Bible, God's role in our life and the purpose of the church. This course is open to all. Plenty of time for interaction is given.

Capturing Today A Vision for My Tomorrow (1 session)
The Finishing Well Ministry presents: "Capturing Today A Vision for My Tomorrow" with Dr. Kenneth Boa, President of Reflections Ministry. Begin your journey of "finishing well" through the insights of Dr. Boa. Please come and join Dr. Boa as he discusses how to develop a desire and vision for finishing well in your spiritual walk regardless of your age.

Christian Growth (9 sessions)
God wants to transform your character and help you learn to love others as he has loved you. This course will show you how God is at work in your life to guide and empower you through the growth process. Learn to see yourself and others through God’s eyes and explore how deep-seated change occurs.

Christian Leadership 1:
Ecclesiology 1 (5 sessions)
The is the first of two courses on Ecclesiology - or what the Bible teaches about the church. Topics include the origin and mission of the church, how to create and implement structures that advance the church's mission, and areas of ministry every church should be engaged in - worship, evangelism, follow-up, and discipleship.

Christian Leadership 1:
Ecclesiology 2 (5 sessions)
This second course on the church addresses several questions: What kind of people should lead the church? How much authority should they have? How should they respond to sin? Who should give money to the church and how should these funds be handled? What can we do to ensure that our ministry is built on a solid, lasting foundation?

Christian Leadership 2:
Pastoral Counseling (6 sessions)
Xenos is a network of small, home-based Bible studies that meet all over the Columbus area. These groups are led by teams of committed men and women who provide a place for people to investigate Christ and where Christians can learn, build friendships, and grow. The Christian Leadership series equips our teams with the training they need to lead well.

  • Prerequisites: Christian Ministry 1-3. You also should be currently leading or soon to lead a home group.

Christian Ministry Series (27 sessions)
These courses provide guidance in reading and applying the Bible and a broad overview of theology, missions, evangelism, predictive prophecy, and a variety of practical issues like discerning the will of God and financial stewardship. (27 three-hour sessions)

  • Prerequisites: Intro to the Bible and Christian Growth. Students in the College Ministry must be invited by their home group leader to attend.

Christian Ministry Unit 1 (11 sessions)
This course is broken into three shorter modules covering theology, the nature of salvation, and prophecy.

Module 1: Intro to Theology (5 sessions)

  • $38 for adults or $12 for students

Module 2: The Nature of Salvation (3 sessions)

  • $22 for adults or $7 for students

Module 3: Predictive Prophecy (3 sessions)

  • $22 for adults or $7 for students

Christian Ministry Unit 2 (8 sessions)
Learn how the books of the Bible were chosen and why we believe they are inspired. Students will also learn principles of biblical interpretation and how they apply to different types of biblical literature: narrative, poetry, wisdom, and epistles.

Christian Ministry Unit 3
This course is divided into two shorter modules. Topics include God’s purpose in history, evangelism, missions, how to discern God’s will, and the Bible’s perspective on money.

Module 1: Missions & Evangelism (4 sessions)

Christian Ministry Light Series (CML) (17 sessions)
This is a shorter version of the Christian Ministry series designed for adults with busy schedules. CML will allow students to complete the Christian Ministry series in 17 weeks instead of 27.

  • Prerequisites: Intro to the Bible and Christian Growth. You also should be discipling one or more individuals in your home church. Students must be invited by their home group leader to attend. The Christian Ministry Light Series is not open to college students.

 

CML Unit 1 (6 sessions)
This course begins with a study of who God is. It also explores what the Bible teaches about human nature, the person of Christ, Satan, and salvation.

CML Unit 2 (6 sessions)
Learn principles of biblical interpretation, how the books of the Bible were chosen and why we believe they are inspired.

CML Unit 3 (5 sessions)
Topics include sharing your faith, ministering to the poor and financial stewardship. This course also covers how to discern God’s will and encourage others.

Christians and the Arts (1 session)
Many artists feel alienated from , or even hostile toward the church. Many Christians feel alienated and even hostile to artists. Why is this? What is the role of the arts in the Christian life and in gospel communication? How can the Christian community be better, more credible ambassadors to the arts community?

Comrades: Friendship Building for Men (1 session)
In this one night workshop, we will look at the advantages for man of serving the Lord in partnership with fellow brothers. We'll explore barriers to this ideal and practical tips for making progress.

Creative Disciplemaking (5 sessions)
This class explores the basics of disciplemaking as well as giving practical hands-on advice on how to fulfill this important aspect of the great commission. Students will be able to recognize stages of spiritual progression and identify needs in disciples. They will also be able to formulate and initiate a plan on interactive study that will answer those needs. Students will receive a substantial notebook full of resources that will serve to inspire creative studies in their personal life, meetings with individuals and in discipleship groups.

Daniel (6 sessions)
No prophetic book in the Bible provides a more comprehensive view of God's plan for history than Daniel. Daniel contains amazing predictions that have already come true and many more that are yet to be fulfilled. Daniel also shows how God can advance his plan through willing people even in the worst circumstances. This six-week course will cover every single verse in the book of Daniel. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Effective Short Term Missions (3 sessions)
God wants all believers to become World Christians either by becoming missions mobilizers or long term missionaries. Where do you fit in? Short-term missions trips are a great way to see the awesome needs in the world around us first hand. If you’re thinking about taking a short-term mission trip, our training course can help make your experience on the field a positive one. Students will understand the biblical mandate for missions, learn how to relate to other cultures, and identify potential areas of stress on the field.

Evolution and Scripture (1 session)
Is evolution compatible with a faithful reading of the bible? How should Christians respond to concerns by investigators that the theory of evolution invalidates scripture? Join Jeff Gordon and Doug Rudy as they explain some of the historical mistakes Christians have made in this area, and provide some practical suggestions on how to deal with the question of scripture and evolution.

God's Vision for the Church (5 sessions)
Join the founds of Xenos Christian Fellowship and other Xenos leaders as they review the core biblical convictions that drive our approach to "church." Teachers will raise and answer key questions such as: What is the church? What does it do? What is worship? Students will also explore barrier to commitment and keys to establishing an enduring ministry. Anyone is welcome to attend.

Homiletics (5 sessions)
During the first two weeks of this five week workshop, the instructors will present overviews of how to format teachings and dynamic/authoritative speaking. Over the course of the last three weeks, students will present at least two ten-minute teachings and receive feedback from the instructors and other participants. There will be assignments each week, but there will not be any quizzes or tests. There will be plenty of time to interact with questions. Registrants should have completed the Christian Ministry series and currently be teaching in their Home Group. Class size will be limited.

How We Got the Bible (3 sessions)
The Christian faith is based on the Bible, which Christians believe to be the very words of God. But how can anyone be sure that the Bible we read is what the original authors wrote? Hasn't it been corrupted over long centuries of copying and re-copying? How can we possibly trust such an ancient collection of documents? Join Chris Lang and Luke Davis in this investigation into the historical roots of the Bible. Learn why the Bible contains certain books and not others, how the Bible has been transmitted over the centuries, and why the text we have today is trustworthy.

Initiating Spiritual Conversations (1 session)
Nervous about sharing your faith? Want to become more effective? This workshop will give you some ways to start spiritual conversations without being pushy, weird or "religious." Two optional follow-up sessions will be held.

Whether you’re discovering the Bible for the first time, or eager to rekindle your passion for Scripture, this course will help you understand, enjoy and obey God’s Word in ways that draw you near to Christ and transform your life.

Investigating Christianity (5 sessions)
Some folks have honest objections to claims that Christians make. Is the Bible a reliable source of truth? Doesn’t science contradict it? What about all those other religions? If you’re investigating spirituality and have questions about Christianity, this class is for you.

Leaders @ Home (5 sessions)
This 5-week class for men explores significant leadership principles in marriage. Learn how to lead at home during times of chaos, how to work through differences towards reconciliation and how to serve your wife from a position of strength and confidence in Christ instead of weakness and neediness. This course also addresses areas that are challenging in any marriage relationship including money, sex and work.

Marriage Readiness (5 sessions)
This class is offered as a replacement to some of the individual pre-marital counseling sessions provided for engaged couples. This class will discuss God's purpose for marriage. We will lay the foundational essentials for a successful marriage and identify the factors that hinder it. This class is for engaged and newly married couples.

Minor Prophets (5 sessions)
In the Old Testament, God spoke through his prophets both about his plan for the future through the Messiah, and his will for their own day. This five week course will survey the history and message of the Minor Prophets.

Old Testament Wisdom Literature (5 sessions)
The Old Testament wisdom books (Job, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes) are some of the most interesting, accessible, and relevant in the entire Bible. They are an excellent source for learning more about God's priorities and unchanging character. This class will help you gain a passionate excitement for engaging with the Bible, and will help you transmit that passion to others as you study these books with them. You will discover that these are among the most important books in Scripture for understanding how to live for God in the real world.

Parenting Teens and Preteens (4 sessions)
The teen years are some of the most difficult and crucial for a young person. Yet these are also the year when parents begin to feel increasingly detached from their kids and often helpless to know how to relate to them. The parenting techniques that once worked when kids were younger seem to backfire at every turn. This class focuses specifically on developing biblical parenting and relational approaches that will allow parents to play a meaningful and helpful role in the life of their teenagers.

Parenting Without Guilt (5 sessions)
Parents seem required to protect children more and more, while kids feel pressed to succeed. As a result, fear and guilt can rob us of the joy of parenting, while kids struggle with anxiety, depression and anger. Each week, we will look at core cultural beliefs and consider biblical answers to restoring hope, confidence and joy in parenting.

Psalms (5 sessions)
"The New Testament is in the Old Testament concealed. The Old Testament is in the New Testament revealed." Nowhere is this more evident than in the Psalms. We are separated from the authors of the Psalms by more than three millennia, but they still have much to say to us. Come hear God speak through the Hebrew poets in this enlightening, stirring and challenging study.

Realism Without Cynicism (1 session)
For many people today, the only way to survive relational danger is to have super low expectations and brace for the inevitable disappointment. This workshop examines the corrosive effect of cynicism on spiritual growth and Christian service. It will explore ways to love with discernment without resorting to the self-protective strategy of cynicism.

Resolving Conflict: A One Night Workshop for Home Group Leaders (1 session)
This one night workshop for Home Group leaders will discuss whey the unity of leadership teams is critical to the fruitfulness of a home church. All too often leadership teams limp along with various kinds of conflicts that hurt intimacy, fruitfulness and the satisfaction that should be enjoyed by those who commit themselves to serve Christ together. Come out to this one night workshop designed to help you effectively navigate toward real unity with your co-workers. Home Group leaders are encouraged to invite key workers to this event.

This 3-week workshop provides support and guidance for women in relationships with men who are involved with pornography.

Do you find yourself coming to the brink of taking risks to love and serve others, only to chicken out and back away in fear? This workshop will offer practical strategies to help you choose against the counsel of your fears and take your stand on Biblical convictions.

Sharing Our Faith Together (3 sessions)
This five-week class will help you to share your faith with greater confidence, with an emphasis on helping you coach teams of others to do the same. We will discuss how to pray, how to tell your story, developing conversational skills, the role of good deeds in demonstrating the gospel, male aversion to church, and communicating cross-culturally.

Sharing Your Faith (5 sessions)
Many Christians have a strong desire to share their faith, but feel intimidated and unequipped to do so. This class avoids stereotyped approaches that many Christians find wooden and disrespectful to others. Instead, you will learn how to identify and develop an evangelism style that is effective for you. The focus is on helping you to share the Gospel in a natural and powerful way while being the person God made you to be.

Simply Walking (3 sessions)
Is living the Christian life just following a set of rules, or should it be an exciting and fulfilling adventure in becoming what God created you to be? Come learn how you can build a close, personal relationship with God as you simply walk in the Christian life.

Spiritual Gifts and Home Group Multiplication (1 session)
An emphasis on spiritual gifts often leads to a program-based approach to ministry, which undercuts home groups' mission to reproduce themselves. On the other hand, multiplying home groups can overlook the diversity of gifting among their members. How can home groups develop and utilize the spiritual gifts God has given their members to help them accomplish their mission to multiply home groups? This workshop offers some guidelines that help to answer this question.

Teaching Through Group Discussion (4 sessions)
Some home group discussions are dull and boring, while others leave participants thinking for days afterward. Learn how to lead group discussions effectively in this four-week workshop.

Team Building and Lead Team Dinners (1 session)

The Writings of Francis Schaeffer (3 sessions)
A generation ago, Francis Schaeffer challenged believers to be committed to the truth of the Bible and to understand their culture. Many Christians do one or the other of these. In this three-week class, we will overview Schaeffer's thinking and how it speaks to the same challenges we face in the 21st Century.

Tracing God’s Incredible Plan (6 sessions)
Come and see how understandable the Bible really is! The Bible reveals God’s incredible plan for humanity from cover to cover. Out of love, God wants a relationship with us. Even more incredibly, He wants us to participate with him in His Kingdom here on earth. This is a great place to begin your study of the Bible!

Why Become a Leader (1 session)
Many people today see spiritual leadership as an unwelcome burden or, if desirable, still unattainable. In this one night workshop, we will look at the diversity of leadership roles and styles in God's work, the joy of playing a God-given role, and look realistically at the hardships of leadership.

Women in Marriage (5 sessions)
Could the Bible, written thousands of years ago, possibly have anything relevant to say about marriage? This five week course will consider what we can do as women to improve our marriages. We will explore such topics as sex, forgiveness, how to create an environment of acceptance and many more.

Your Mission is Only as Good as Your Jesus (1 session)
Our mission as a church can become distorted or diluted when the Biblical Jesus is not clearly in focus. Some people err by stressing the humanity of Jesus without an adequate stress on His Divinity, and vice versa. Some stress His deeds over his words or his words without attention to his deeds. Some minimize the cross as they pursue kingdom justice. This workshop will show how a full and balanced understanding of Jesus is the key to everything we do as a church.

"Evidence For the Resurrection"

  • Description: We are pleased to host, Dr. Tom McCall, Trinity Assistant Professor of Biblical and Systematic Theology for a one-night lecture on the Evidence for the Resurrection. Dr. McCall is offering this lecture in conjunction with the Trinity Open House on Saturday, April 19.

Explorations in the Relationship Between Gospel and Culture

  • Course Number: ST 6000
  • Credit Hours: 3
  • Instructor: Dr. Don Carson
  • Description: Many of the most complicated and urgent questions that divide Christians today circle around the ways in which disparate groups envisage the relationship between the gospel and culture. Even to articulate the challenge this way inevitably raises subsidiary questions about what we mean by "gospel" and "culture." This course attempts to chart some of the parameters in this debate, and then to work through a synthesis that is simultaneously faithful to Scripture and that accounts for legitimate diversity. Apologetics

  • Description:An introduction to the discipline of Christian apologetics, its relation to theology and evangelism Christian ministry. Selected intellectual challenges to core Christian claims for contemporary culture (e.g., the existence of God, the problem of evil, the resurrection of Jesus Christ, religious pluralism), along with Christian responses to those challenges, are explored.

Introduction to the Old Testament

  • Course Number: OT 5000
  • Credit Hours: 4
  • Instructor: Dr. Barry Beitzel
  • Description: An introduction to the literature of the Old Testament, the history of Israel, critical issues of Old Testament formation, method in Old Testament study, and the theology of the Old Testament. This course meets the OT General Comprehensive requirement for MA students and the English Bible competency requirement for MDiv students, who must meet the SBCT requirement. Not for credit in the MA/NT or MA/OT programs. Elective credit in MDiv program. Auditors are not permitted in General Comp courses unless they have taken previous undergraduate course work in the subject or are not intending to complete the MA program. Four hours.
