Ways to take Classes for Credit

1. Distance Education (DE)

Students taking DE classes listen to taped lectures and/or read course materials on their own. They submit homework, quizzes, tests and papers to Trinity to be graded. See a complete listing of the distance education courses offered by TEDS.

Normally DE classes cost $261 per semester hour, but Xenos has worked out an arrangement with Trinity to offer selected DE classes for credit towards an MAR or a TEDS Certificate of Biblical Studies for only $180 per semester hour.

DE classes offered by Xenos require attendance at a weekly recitation led by teachers in our adult education program. This year, Xenos will offer a discounted rate for the following courses:

Students can also take DE classes independently. When taken independently, DE classes cost $261/semester hour. For more information on taking DE courses on your own contact Trinity's Division of Open Studies at 800.588.7705.

Fourteen semester hours (about 5 courses) of the Master of Arts in Religion (MAR), twelve hours of the TEDS Certificate in Biblical Studies, and up to 20% of other TEDS Masters programs can be done through DE classes.

2. Church-based Extension Courses

Visiting professors from Trinity teach church-based extension courses at several locations in the Midwest. Trinity currently has 3 church-based extension sites in Ohio. Classes at these sites generally meet for 3-5 weekends per semester. Sites offer courses on a one-, two-, or three-year rotation, so there are plenty of courses to choose from. These courses fulfill MAR and a number of MDiv core requirements as well as elective requirements.

3. Short term courses at Trinity's Deerfield Campus

Seminary courses are offered in one-, two-, or three-week modular formats, or as conference wraparound courses on the Trinity campus in Deerfield, Illinois during the summer, and also during the fall and spring semesters. Since all the MAR and Mdiv core courses are offered on a two-year rotation, you can fulfill may of the MAR course requirements and complete your 3 hour campus residency requirement* during the summer in Deerfield.

For complete information on modular courses, contact Trinity Records at (847) 317-8050 or email teds-tgsrec@tiu.edu.

* Xenos is in negotiation with Trinity to remove the 3 credit hour residency requirement.
