Week 1
· Know and describe the seven principles of financial giving.
· Be able to define stewardship, and able to contrast attitudes of owner vs. steward
· What is simple living, and why is it important? Is tithing appropriate?
Week 2
· Be able to define materialism.
· What are the two ways to struggle against and replace materialism?
· How do we pursue God’s kingdom instead?
· What action steps can you take to trust God with material anxiety?
Week 3
· Be familiar with the four principles of guidance.
· Be familiar with the "Road Signs" used in discovering God's will.
· Know the five ministries in which all Christians should be involved (areas of uniformity).
· Be able to define spiritual gifts, ministries and effects.
· Know the practical steps to discover what one’s gifts are.
Week 4
· Be able to define encouragement and admonition.
· Know the types of encouragement.
· Know the principles of giving and receiving admonition.
· Be sure to know memory verses and their meaning.
Memory Verses
Week 1
· 2 Cor. 8:7* - Consistent, sacrificial giving is a non-optional component of spiritual vitality and maturity. We cannot be true disciples of Christ without this.
· 2 Cor. 9:6-11** - God blesses bountiful financial giving in a variety of ways.
· 1 Cor. 16:2* - Our financial giving should be regular and consistent.
Week 2
· 1 Timothy 6:9* - The desire to get rich endangers your walk with God
· 1 Timothy 6:17-19** - It’s not wrong to be rich, but the rich have special temptations and unique responsibilities to use their money to have eternal impact on people.
Week 3
· Rom. 12:2* - We need minds renewed by truth to be able to discern God’s will.
· Jn. 7:17* - We need to be willing to do God’s will to be able to discern his will.
· Matt. 13:12* - We need to obey what we already know of God’s will to learn more of his will.
Week 4
· Rom. 15:14* - every believer is competent to instruct/admonish.
· 1Thess 5:14* - All believers challenged to admonish, encourage.
· Heb 10:24,25* - Consider how to encourage one another; don’t forsake meeting together.
