Evaluation
1. What evidence do you have that this ministry is accomplishing the purpose for which
it is intended?
- Evidence that the ministry is accomplishing what it is intended to would include
statistics, charts, or any other information that you feel is objective. Any type of
objective evidence flowing from the mission statement. Subjective evidence could be
testimonials and endorsements from known Christian leaders. [We prefer to accredit
ministries that are already in motion and showing signs of success. If someone wants to
begin a ministry from scratch, this question would have to be left blank.]
2. Have your results been consistent with your vision and goals for this group? If
no, please explain.
3. Who else can we talk to for insight about you or this ministry? (fellow leaders,
workers, etc.) - please include phone numbers.
- Self-explanatory [A ministry that is not known and supported by others is hard to sell.]
4. What research, if any, have you done in developing this ministry (theological,
secular, books, etc.)?
- If you have studied in this area, list all the resources you used, and length or scope
of the study. Include indirect study that contributes to your ability to lead the
ministry. Examples are, classes taken, field study of other similar ministries, any
related books, etc.
5. Why do you think this ministry should be prioritized by Xenos at this time?
- Give 1-2 sentences on how this ministry fits into Xenos' Mission Statement. Do the same,
if possible, for our Vision Statement
Xenos' Mission Statement: God has called on the church to cooperate with him as
he reconciles the world to himself. Therefore, Xenos Christian Fellowship exists to help
people learn how to draw close to God. This work begins by inviting people to receive the
gift of forgiveness available through Christ. We also try to foster spiritual growth by
encouraging people to respond to the love of God through loving service toward God and all
people. Specifically, we are committed to serving the family, the non-Christian community
in which we live, and the rest of the Christian community.
- Also, explain why you feel that other ministries can't meet the needs that this ministry
can. Is there a deficiency you are aware of in this area of ministry? Is there a biblical
mandate for this type of ministry?
6. On the next page, list all of the essential personnel currently involved, along
with their roles<197>Please be complete and note any concerns you may have with this
individual.
- Self-explanatory [The composition of the personnel in the work force for the ministry
is important in assessing the stability and viability of the ministry. It is also a
measure of the senior leader's leadership gifting.]
7. Estimate how many hours you would be spending per week in this ministry (these
might include: ministry meeting, leaders' meetings, fellowship meeting [required for
Ministry Team Leaders], planned functions to support your ministry).
- We know you may have to estimate here. Be sure to give us a break down of time in the
categories mentioned in the question, or other categories if appropriate.
8. Describe a typical meeting, outing, referral, or whatever is appropriate:
- If your ministry involves meetings, list each meeting and the estimated time required
for each. If people are referred to you for ministry, explain how that works and what
happens when they get there. If your ministry involves going out to do something, explain
how a typical outing works. We are looking here for a simple description of how you do
your work in the ministry.
9. Is there a training program in existence? If so, who runs it, and what method or
plan is being used.
10. If there is not a current training program, what training needs do you have and
how might they be provided?
- List the kind of training available now for ministry development. Explain the process of
the training program if any exists.
11. Is there a leadership team, and do they meet as a team, separately from the
rest of the group? Describe the meetings and inter-relations.
- List your present training needs and any future training needs that might arise.
12. Are you experiencing any personnel problems in the leadership?
- Include how long you have been in these relationships and how long you have been meeting
as a team.
- We realize it may be difficult to report on problems with your team. But remember, every
team has problems, and we need to think this area through with you. It's important that
you tell us about any problems that you know of or suspect, because it would reflect badly
on your leadership discernment or honesty if problems surface later which you knew about,
or should have known about. We need to know your problems now so we can help you think
through them.
If you have someone with problems, will there be a problem with one of us talking to that
person? Be prepared to discuss this at your next meeting.
13. What is the current involvement of workers in home fellowship?
- Explain the role of the workers in the small group or home church of this proposed
Ministry Team. [We want our deacons to all be involved in home fellowship groups. We
expect ministry teams to work around this and to support home group involvement.]
14. Are you aware of anything similar to this ministry already going on in Xenos?
If so, what is different about your ministry?
- Differences here may include the type of ministry field you work with, specializations,
differences in approach, etc. If you feel like you don't know enough about other
ministries in the church to answer this question, just state that you don't know, and we
will help you.
