The board of education, superintendent, and treasurer establish and communicate the district's mission, philosophy, direction, priorities and strategies for addressing stakeholder needs, especially those of students. To assure that the district operates as a successful organization, the board, superintendent, treasurer and staff should serve as positive role models, reinforce best practices and provide strong leadership. The board of education shall be responsible for developing policies governing the schools' operations and educational programs, which are consistent with applicable local, state and federal law and regulations.
Our Schools
Xenos Christian Schools provides traditional education programs in a grace-oriented, relational environment. Accredited by the Ohio Department of Education, we provide an exceptional, multifaceted education for students from Columbus and surrounding suburban school districts. We welcome new students to our safe, Christ-centered environment.
Our school system has three locations in Columbus, Ohio:
  • Calumet Christian School, founded in 1983 by Xenos Christian Fellowship, includes preschool through grade 8
  • Xenos Christian School, started in 1997, offers preschool through grade 5
  • Harambee Christian School, our urban program, opened in 1998 with full-day kindergarten, and now has classes through grade 5

  • A copy of all XCS Board meeting minutes are available in each school office.
  • Bi-weekly newsletters are sent home from September through June.
  • The current year goals set forth by the Student Ministry Division and approved by the XCS school board are available online and at our three locations.

Section B

The Elements of a leadership system that will guide a high-performing district include:
(1) A student focused environment;
Xenos Christian Schools employ a principal at each location. The principal is responsible for overseeing each schools resources, which results in furthering the accomplishment of the schools' mission. The principal provides spiritual and managerial leadership for the staff and students of the school. Finally, he or she provides input to the Superintendent for the formulation of policies and procedures.

Strategic and Tactical Plan
Strategic Objectives:
  • Maintain enrollment levels at all three buildings
  • Maintain a level of 75th percentile or better in annual standardized tests
  • Continue to improve the academic curriculum of the school through ongoing review
  • Increase average years experience of certified staff through ongoing professional development initiatives and salary and benefit advancements
  • Continue to develop programs and materials to enhance the spiritual well-being of both staff and students

Section C

To be responsible to the stakeholders they serve, the board of education and staff:
(1) Assure that the mission and education goals of the school district or school reflect the educational needs identified by a broad representation of the stakeholders.
See stakeholder communication. Each fall an annual meeting is scheduled to inform the stakeholders of the district's progress over the past year and plans for the coming year. An annual report is available at each school office and on the Xenos Christian Schools web site.
(2) Assure that the board policies and the district's educational goals are available to stakeholders.
A copy of the Xenos Christian School policy manual and board minutes are located in the school office for stakeholder access.
