Directly Reports To:  Classroom Teacher

Unit/Department: Xenos Christian Schools

Indirectly Reports To:  Administrative Assistant

 

 

General Purpose ("Why does this position exist?"):

 

Teachers aids assist the classroom teacher(s) in their effort to provide an environment conducive to learning and spiritual growth.  In addition, teacher aids help ensure the safety of the students during lunch, recess and classroom transitions.

 

 

 

Key Result Areas ("What is done, for what result?")

Assist assigned teacher(s) in accomplishing the following:

·         Clerical tasks

·         Maintaining a positive learning environment

·         Maintaining a clean and orderly classroom environment

·         Grading, recording, collecting & distributing student papers

·         Supervision of children at lunch, recess and bus stop; maintaining the safety of the students.

 

Lunch Room Aide:

·         Maintain order in the lunch room

·         Assist in ensuring the tables and lunch area are clean

·         Supervise the collection of milk money, ordering, and sale of milk.

 

Bus Aide: (if applicable)

·         Escort students from their room to the busses

·         Supervise all students boarding the busses

·         Liaison with bus drivers regarding schedules and discipline

 

 

 

 

 

Nature of Supervision Received (check one):

Routine work performed under immediate supervision with detailed instructions.  Activities required minimal decision making.

 

 

Primary routine work performed with supervision readily available.  Activities follow established, well-defined procedures, and basic decision are made within the scope of these procedures/guidelines.  Decisions outside the scope of the guidelines are referred to the supervisor.

 

Work performed independently with supervision available.  Manages and prioritizes own workload; expected to make some non-routine decisions requiring judgment and interpretation.

 

Under direction as to assignments and general methods of execution, with periodic review of assignments.  Expected to make non-routine decisions requiring analysis and interpretation with limited guidance from supervisor.

 

Under general direction as to broad assignments.  Determines methods and delivers final results.

 

Within the broadest scope of the unit's objectives, determines and executes major programs.

 


 

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

 

·         High School Diploma

·         Experience working with children
