Godman Guild Association
The Godman Guild was established in 1898, and is a part of the Columbus Federation of Settlements, serves all of Columbus, but primarily on the near north side focuses solely on the 43201 zip code, encompassing the Near North side or Weinland Park area. Their mission is developing strong families and strong communities. Their services focus on youth and family and workforce development.

Offices are at 303 E. 6th Avenue (from 5th Ave., N. on 6th Street, then W. on 6th Avenue.)
Parent Partnership works with parents of children who are in Kindergarten-Second grade and reside in the 43201 zip code (*most children attend Weinland Park school). Program is aimed at increasing parental involvement in their child’s education parenting skills and goal setting.
Kidz Klub serves K-3, is a sub component of Parent Partnership and is an after school program providing tutoring and learning activities to kids whose parents participate in Parent Partnership. *Parent Partnership is also piloting a pre-K enrichment program.
Volunteers are needed to:
tutor and mentor Kidz Klub kids from 4-6 PM on Fridays.
ACES after school program is for kids in grades 1-5 at Weinland Park. This program focuses on math, reading, science and skills development.
Volunteers are needed to:
- tutor and mentor kids for approx. 2 hours from 3:30-6 PM any weekday(s).
GED Classes are offered for any adult in Columbus or Franklin County. Transportation is provided for students in 43201.
Volunteers are needed to:
- work 1:1 and in small groups with students 2 hours M-W 12-3 or 4:45-7:30
- give special attention to ESL students (same hours)
Job Success program is a 5-week intensive course aimed at reshaping not only how an adult approaches getting a job, but also keeping that job. Graduate of the course are placed in jobs with local businesses.
Wee P.L.A.Y. is learning-focused child care for adults participating in Job Success or GED classes. Volunteers are needed to: help with learning activities and meals for children (babies thru age 11).
T.E.E.N. Program (Teen Education and Employment Network) is a program offered to Columbus teens. Programming includes components on financial literacy, career preparation, and academic enrichment.
Community Library is available to all neighborhood residents and is not staffed.
Volunteers are needed to:
- organize the library anytime M-F between the hours of 8-6; the library must be scheduled in advance
- provide an ongoing supply of children’s books
Camp Mary Orton(CMO) is owned by Godman Guild and offers summer camps, team building activities for professional entities and other groups, and Indoor Activity Challenge and Leadership Center. Godman Guild operates two summer camps for children that attend our local schools (ages 5 and have attended Kindergarten-15 yrs) at CMO, PRIDE and Summertime Safari. CMO also operates its own camp that is open to all children, Adventure Academy.
Volunteers are needed to:
- help maintain the grounds - (please volunteer as a group)
Community all natural Garden (no pesticides, fertilizers, etc) provides an opportunity for kids and families to grow produce, herbs, flora on site. Teens associated with our TEEN program also learn entrepreneurial skills by selling items from the garden at local farmers markets.
Volunteers are needed starting in April to:
- work in the garden
- groups can develop and perform a grounds or building project related to the garden/outdoor space.
Community Clean-Up - volunteer activity for clean-up of the 43201 neighborhood.
Holiday Potluck is a local community Thanksgiving dinner provided for 200+ individuals by the Guild. This event also includes a family craft activity and entertainment. Volunteer individuals and groups are invited to serve.
Pictures With Santa -this is an opportunity for community residents to bring their children and have their photo taken with Santa and receive a small gift bag. If you or your group is interested in helping, please contact us.
